The service

cantopen.com tells you what type a file is and how to open it, and lets you read Outlook data files (.pst, .ost), MBOX mailboxes and .eml messages, winmail.dat files and DICOM medical images, and save their contents (attachments, messages as .eml, images as PNG). The service is currently free of charge and needs no account.

Everything happens in your browser: we do not receive your files. Details are in the privacy policy.

What the results mean

The tools show what they can read in a file. A file may be damaged, incomplete or in a variant the tools do not support, in which case some content may be missing or shown differently than in the program that created it. Keep your original files.

The DICOM viewer is for viewing images, not for diagnosis. It is not a medical device and must not be used for diagnosis, treatment decisions or any other medical purpose. Rely on the radiologist’s report and on your doctor.

The mail viewers are reading tools. They do not produce forensic reports or keep a chain of custody, and are not a substitute for an eDiscovery or forensic tool where one is required.

Using the site

Use cantopen.com only for files you are entitled to open and in line with the law, in particular data protection and confidentiality rules when a mailbox or a medical image concerns other people. Do not try to disrupt or overload the site, or to get around its security measures.

Price

cantopen.com is currently free of charge. If we add paid features, we will update these terms first, and the price and conditions, including your right of withdrawal as a consumer, will be shown before you pay.

Intellectual property

The site, its design and its texts belong to FLISTONE TECHNOLOGIES - FZCO. Open-source components used in the software remain under their own licences. The files you open remain yours or belong to their authors.

Trademarks

Outlook, Microsoft, Windows, Exchange, Microsoft 365, Gmail, Google, Apple, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird and other product names belong to their owners and are used only to describe file formats and programs. CantOpen is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Availability

We work to keep cantopen.com running, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, suspend or discontinue the site or any feature at any time.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, cantopen.com is provided free of charge and as is, and we are not liable for decisions you take on the basis of what the site shows, or for indirect losses such as lost profit or lost data.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it, in particular for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or under mandatory consumer protection law.

Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence, and you can bring proceedings before the courts of that country where that law allows it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. Changes apply from the date they are published and do not apply to earlier use of the site.
